Morning Breakfast

Morning Breakfast
Watercolor, 14" x 18" (matted and framed),
$100

Sometimes I paint or draw from life, sometimes from photographs or sketches, or sometimes I create from a combination of the three. For Still-Life art, I cannot resist gathering everyday items, assembling them into little scenes from life, and painting directly from what I see and experience before me. Still-Life, for me, is a portrait of a moment in life.

J. Fromm Painting selected to adorn Steven Kent Wine

Steven Kent Winery in Livermore California selected my painting, Still Life with Wine, for their November 2012 Collector's Circle release of their Grenache wine.  The wine, also titled Still Life with Wine, is a blend of three separate vintages of Grenache from the Ghielmetti Estate Vineyard. Only 142 cases, were made exclusively for members of the Collector's Circle.

I attended the release party, which was very fun, and the wine was delicious!

Pepper-Jack Under Glass

Pepper-Jack Under Glass
Pastels, 20" x 24" framed,  $575

A few years ago, my neighbor gave me her set of soft pastels. She had an illness, and knew that her time was limited. Her pastels were precious to her, and she wanted to give them to someone who would use them. Deeply touched, I accepted her gift. I knew that I would use them at some point. When I opened her set of pastels, I clicked with the medium. I love drawing, and I love painting. With pastels, I enjoy the wonderful mark-making effects and techniques of drawing, as well as the use of rich colors and soft textures, which create a very painterly result -the best of both worlds. Margaret has since passed on, but I feel that she lives on in my work. I am truly grateful for what she shared.
