Artwork from the Past

Nymphs from the Fountain of the Innocents
Charcoal 24” x 18”
Artist's Collection

This is a charcoal drawing that I did a few years back. It’s one of my favorites. It is a section from the Fountain of the Innocents depicting nymphs personifying the rivers of France.

Taking a Fresh Look

View of Mt. Diablo
Pastels 14”x 23”
$330

A couple of years ago I put this drawing away when I finished it, because it didn't turn out how I had intended at the time. I was a bit frustrated and didn't want to look at it. Fast forward to yesterday when I opened up a portfolio to find this piece, and now I like it.  Every art piece develops into its own entity. We as artists have ideas of how we want an art piece to go, and our skills guide the results. Unpredictable things happen when exploring art. Sometimes it takes stepping away from a work to notice and appreciate those unpredictable things. Artists, take a fresh look at your art as often as possible!

"Resting on a Branch" butterfly painting by artist Jeannette Fromm

Resting on a Branch
Watercolor,  8.5x11.5 in
$125

I decided to paint a few more watercolors before I break out my oil paints. Here is a butterfly!

New watercolor: "Fading Light" by artist Jeannette Fromm

Fading Light

Watercolor 8" x 5"
$100

This lone windmill in the setting sun inspired this artwork. This scene for me conjures up childhood memories of vast California farmland, with sight and sound dimming as the light fades in the distance, a feeling of nostalgia.

Today's painting: Point Montara Lighthouse

Point Montara Lighthouse
Watercolor 7" x 11" $125

California has a lot of history when it comes to its many costal light houses. Although lighthouses were constructed as beacons utilized best in extreme weather conditions, I see them a beautiful structures exemplifying historical costal communities. A sunny day with waves crashing in the background is the perfect backdrop for the Point Montara Lighthouse.

Today's Painting: Seagulls on the Shore

Seagulls on the Shore
Watercolor 5" x 7", $90

I grew up in Pismo Beach California. There is something about the sight of seagulls on the shore that takes me back to the beach, its sounds, smells, and the warm sun on my skin. Painting this was fun! To see more of my new art, check out my website at www.jeannettefromm.com, or my Facebooksite Jeannette Fromm Art.

People Watching, Watercolor 8.5" x 9.5", $125

I decided to pull out my watercolor paint and play around with it. Its been awhile since I've painted in watercolor. I'm rediscovering what I can do with my colors, and how the paper behaves. It's fun!

Hidden Treasure

Eyes of the Past

Eyes of the Past,
Monotype, 11" x 8.5", $575

This is a Monotype print that I did years ago. Monotype is a one of a kind printing process where you ink up a plate, wipe away an image with a rough cloth, then cover it with paper to run it through the press. Every attempt at a print is unique. After creating this piece , I tucked it away in a portfolio and forgot about it. I found it and decided I should bring it out for the world to see. This artwork was inspired by a photo that I saw of the Native American Geronimo, of the Apache Tribe. The photo of him seemed to impart a depth of character, and it motivated me for this work. I call this artwork "Eyes of the Past".

Chicken Coop Art!

Today I came across these photos of a chicken coop that I painted a few years back, and thought I'd share them. This is one of my favorite "out of the ordinary" art projects that have come my way. The task was to draw some attention to this portable chicken coop on display in Lafayette for Earth Day. The coop was beautifully build and didnt really need my art to grab attention, but it was fun!

A Cup of Cocoa

A Cup of Cocoa,
Oil on Canvas, 6" x 6",
with painted edges, ready to hang.

Who doesn’t love a cup of hot cocoa? I couldn’t resist including hot chocolate to my series of warm comfort drink paintings. The whipped cream is the star of this piece. I like the way that whipped cream makes me feel like a kid excited for a present.

A Cup of Tea

A Cup of Tea
Oil on Canvas, 6" x 6",
(painted edges, ready to hang),

I decided to keep with the theme of warm cozy drinks for a few paintings. I like the idea of sitting down to enjoy a warm cup in hand and relaxing in the moment.
